چکیده

angiosperms co-occurred, they write. Interestingly, although early angiosperms were present in the forest, no insects were found that would have pollinated their flowers. The only predators found were the ant, which probably foraged on the soil and on plants, and a linyphiid spider, whose modern relatives construct webs close to the ground. “Together with diverse microscopic inclusions these findings reveal the interaction of plants, fungi and arthropods during an epoch of major change in terrestrial ecosystems, which was caused by the initial radiation of the angiosperms,” the authors write. “Because of its age, paleogeographic location and the exceptional preservation of the inclusions, this fossil resin broadens our understanding of the ecology of the Cretaceous woodlands.”

Endogenous Viral Sequences from the Cape Golden Mole (Chrysochloris asiatica) Reveal the Presence of Foamy Viruses in All Major Placental Mammal Clades

Endogenous retroviruses provide important insights into the deep history of this viral lineage. Endogenous foamy viruses are thought to be very rare and only a few cases have been identified to date. Here we report a novel endogenous foamy virus (CaEFV) within the genome of the Cape golden mole (Chrysochloris asiatica). The identification of CaEFV reveals the presence of foamy virus in the plac...

Which ethics will make us individually and socially happier? A cross-culture and cross- development analytical model

This paper provides an analytical model representing four polar ethical approaches, by linking them to the main ethics suggested by the philosophical, psychological, and socio-economic literature. Moreover, it develops the analytical model in order to obtain rankings of the 4 polar ethical approaches in terms of happiness and, consequently, to provide insights on which ethical approach should b...

CO chemisorption on the surfaces of the golden cages.

We report a joint experimental and theoretical study of CO chemisorption on the golden cages. We find that the Au(17)(-) cage is highly robust and retains its cage structure in Au(17)(CO)(-). On the other hand, the Au(16)(-) cage is transformed to a structure similar to Au(17)(-) upon the adsorption of CO. Au(18)(-) is known to consist of two nearly degenerate structures, i.e., a cage and a pyr...

Morphological diversity in tenrecs (Afrosoricida, Tenrecidae): comparing tenrec skull diversity to their closest relatives

It is important to quantify patterns of morphological diversity to enhance our understanding of variation in ecological and evolutionary traits. Here, we present a quantitative analysis of morphological diversity in a family of small mammals, the tenrecs (Afrosoricida, Tenrecidae). Tenrecs are often cited as an example of an exceptionally morphologically diverse group. However, this assumption ...
